Copper Basin Branding
Technical Support, Conceptual Design, and Implementation
JUNE 2019 | The Copper Basin is a multi-state region that covers Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. The Copper Basin was home to a booming copper mining industry until the late 1950s when the last mines closed. Crippled by economic downturn and environmental devastation, the area struggled for years. However, when the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway began making trips to the twin cities of McCaysville, Georgia, and Copperhill, Tennessee, the area experienced an advent of unprecedented downtown tourism that was driven by outdoor recreation opportunities in the region. The two communities, along with Ducktown, Tennessee, embarked on a year long process to develop a new masterplan and regional brand.
The Copper Basin brand has been incredibly successful because of its commitment to authentically representing locals in a way that helps restore pride in their history and well-loved community. Logo design by Kaitlin Messich
The Copper Basin is a proud recipient of a 2019-2020 Four for the Future Award.
